As part of my PhD, I’m working on the application of stochastic optimization on the microgrid scheduling. With high penetration of renewable energy-based distributed generations, the scheduling of microgrids face challenges from the uncertainties produced by energy sources like wind and solar. Deterministic optimization is unrealistic in this case, which motivates me to seek an optimal framework of stochastic optimization deployment.
Apart from my PhD research, I’m also interested in the partial discharge phenomena in high voltage equipments. My MSc thesis specifically discusses the identification of the contaminating particle in widely-used Gas-Insulated System (GIS) through partial discharge pattern recognition.
